Kayaking on the Hudson River is one of the great free pleasures offered in New York City.
This past Saturday morning my girlfriend and I biked down the Hudson River Greenway to 72nd Street, which is the location of one of The New York City Downtown Boathouse’s kayak centers along the Manhattan side of the Hudson River. The other locations are Pier 96 (56th Street) and Pier 40 (south of West Houston).
We waited for just a few minutes until single kayaks were available (there are also double kayaks). And we then paddled around a few block square area taking in the beautiful scenery and a bit of water on a perfect sunny day. Your kayaking session is limited to about twenty minutes.
